The Use of Online Learning Tools

E-learning tools have been proliferating in the era of modern Western civilization, when information technology is the most glamorous feature. As a matter of fact, there are multiple merits and benefits of using a combination of online learning tools, such as convenience and accessibility.

The first online learning tool, Moodle learning management system, turns out to be effective because of its organized courses and information. To be specific, the main page of a course contains a syllabus-equivalence, with weekly activities, discussion board and announcements. Arranged in a visual way, these blocks can be seen by audience and students as soon as they open the main page (Major, 2015). With these arrangements, this online learning system allows students to engage in the course just like they are in a physical classroom on campus, because they can communicate with classmates, pop questions to professors and take homework on the platform.

Another crucial online tool for distance learning is Dropbox, which is quite prevalent among students worldwide for its strong function of sharing files in an easy and convenient way. Specifically speaking, this tool helps users create universal folders, upload or download documents at ease. What is more, students can access the RUL link to syllabus, lesson plans as well as in-class notes.

Known as a powerful tool for giving a fantastic presentation, Prezi can also be used in learning settings as a substitute for PowerPoint. This can be explained by the fact that Prezi is more engaging and appealing to youth by dynamic, animated and visual presentation. Students are allowed to follow the logic of the presenter based on the sequence of knowledge that he or she shares. Put it another way, Prezi overrides PowerPoint by zooming in and out a virtual canvas, which turns out to be a more engaging and welcomed way than the traditional linear transitions of slide-share.

Therefore, online learning tools have been proved to be more effective and attractive than traditional ones, and they themselves are going through upgrades and improvements at the same time.
